Roadside Markets// Indian Bazaar Photoshoot

One of the most prominent things about India is its street markets. They are many things, fascinating, colourful, and bustling with life. But today we’re dealing with colourful.

There is much I did when I was on vacation last December, and apart from tripping, breaking a nail and getting a blister, which is all only natural for someone like me, I also did quite a bit of photography. I’m going to be showing you a few select takes of a local Bazaar in India.

Some people’s impressions of India range from the craziest things like snake charmers everywhere to elephants trampling the streets, but then you actually get there and say hey, where did all of that go? Well, while I don’t deny that it was there once upon a time, I must say that now it just ain’t the same. Fortunately, some things- like this- are not destined to die.

When you talk about Indian markets, they sell everything from fruit, to veggies, to food, to clothes, to daily necessities like soap and toothpaste, and even things made of copper and occasionally even gold. This post will highlight all that and is going to be over real quick. The ride may be shorter than you think, but I hope you enjoy it anyway. 😀

What the Sea Tells Me

On our recent vacation, which was the main reason for my absence throughout December, we visited the sea twice. Once it was for a ferry ride and once it was to visit the beach. And while we were there, I remember my mom randomly asking me a question- what do we learn from the sea?

ocean1

And this question isn’t just any old question. Think about it, what do we learn from the sea? Logically speaking, there can be many philosophical angles to this question. For instance, my mother said that the sea tells teaches her to break through her boundaries and to reach beyond the limit the world has set, the way the sea crashes against the shore, seeking to leave it behind.

When I mused over it for a while, a poem I had previously written popped into my mind. I said that the sea showed me how there are both rises and falls in life, both ups and downs, but they are both parts of the ocean of our lives. The disruptions and joys that we experience from time to time, when seen from a broader perspective, are only parts of it, and they are what makes it whole.

And so I followed my train of thought here, and I am eager to know where it will lead you. So here’s something you can do when you have nothing else on your hands- think about it, and tell me, what does the sea tell you?

BIBPC the Fifth, Category Seven (Time is Bugging Me)

Seven. That means the end is near.
Mm… that came out wrong.

So apparently this is the seventh category of BIBPC and there are… *counts* zero categories left. Wow. Time is annoying. Fast and annoying. Like bugs.

Uh… that doesn’t matter. What matters is that Pineapple now has 607 points and hasn’t lost the lead. Yaaaaay. *confetti*

BIBPC the Fifth, Category 6

I missed the last BIBPC category, changed my design again, and my posts are getting less versatile. Huh. I’m on a roll.

Anyway, I’m going to try to win us at least a few points this time. Very like me to post at the last moment, don’t you think?

Pineapple’s still in the lead with 510. Here, have some cake. 🍰

Books, Flowers etcetera// BIBPC the Fifth, Category Three

Yesterday a friend and I decided to have a little photography session, just for a change. Then again, the third category for BIBPC was out, so I thought I’d have some fun.

We found this neat grassy area for a backdrop and laid out books. There were little flowers of white and violet, so that was a bonus. I bid my time experimenting with the 50mm lens, my favourite of the lot.

And, miracle of miracles, I got a shot worthy of putting here.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, was my expedition with the books and the camera bag. The focus is a little off, maybe I could’ve done with a couple tweaks, but this is good enough, I suppose.

Now, because I didn’t think it very wise to put it in the middle of my little story, the current status of team Pineapple.

We’re second to Watermelon right now, lagging by three points, but we’ll catch up. 😉 I also put in some extra pictures for the last category for the people who didn’t enter one, so we should be okay.

Also, I’ve got a bit of news! I’ve created a page especially for BIBPC which you can find here. The pictures will be exclusive of the story and other things I may happen to blab about in my regular BIBPC posts, so in case you’d just like a look at my pictures you can get them there.

Have a great day!

BIBPC the Fifth, Category 2

I’ve pretty much let go of the whole schedule idea. Schedules and I don’t get on very well. That’s not very nice of me since I did an official intro too, but I guess I shouldn’t force myself to do something I can’t… So there.

Getting to the point, hello! Today I have my take at the second category of Megan‘s photography contest BIBPC. I’m on team Pineapple in case you didn’t know already, and right now we’re in the lead with a hundred and two points! This is going great for us Pineapple folks by far.

The second category was Circles, and it brought a world of possibilities before my eyes… right at the last moment. I had a hard time choosing between four pictures and ended up choosing the last one. Continue reading BIBPC the Fifth, Category 2

BIBPC the Fifth, Category One

Hello. It’s been long.

So maybe I’ve taken a lot of breaks and have grown tired of apologizing for that, so maybe I’ve missed more than I’ve wanted to, but does it really matter now that it’s done?

But I think what’s worth apologizing for is the constant change of design. Weird of me how I could find the time to keep re-designing this place but not to post. This one’s staying, though. Unless I lose my head again.

Today I have my first entry for Megan‘s photography contest, BIBPC. I took part last time too, and it was fun and very well organized. I’m in team Pineapple this time, and that’s nice because it was my first preference. We’ve got some really good photographers too, and I can hardly wait to see how we turn out to perform!

The first category was Fruit. This is the picture I decided to stick with. Continue reading BIBPC the Fifth, Category One

Using Gems in Your Zentangle// An Unprofessional Tangler’s Guide

mandalaa

I had seen gems being used in zentangle since forever, and I finally decided to try it out. It used to look so complicated to make, but once I started, I realized that I was mistaken.

See that picture up there? That was the first gemdala (termed by me) that I made and actually liked. Since then, I have obsessively drawn, coloured and used gems in my zentangle like a hyperactive lunatic. Which I am, of course. Sometimes.

As I did it, I couldn’t help but notice that my way of drawing gemstones was different from the tutorials online. Seemingly simpler, too. That’s why today, I’m going to show you how draw them and how you can use them in your zentangle. Continue reading Using Gems in Your Zentangle// An Unprofessional Tangler’s Guide

A Brief Intro to Natural Captures// DIY Pocket Poem

I must say that my photography has increased a LOT these days. Mainly because I’m on vacation.

And I have too many favourite pictures to put into separate posts, one by one, all with detailed and organized notes and summaries. I mean, who even reads all that?

So here I am, introducing to you Natural Captures, a two-part photo series of unedited, original snaps of nature and wildlife.

This series will take place any two randomly selected days in May. Probably because I don’t stick to blogging plans very much.

Here’s what the featured image will look like:

Look at that little chickadee!!

Now that that’s done, let’s move on to the more interesting bit. Continue reading A Brief Intro to Natural Captures// DIY Pocket Poem

BIBPC the Fourth, Category {Perched}

Have you noticed that time has flown by so quick that it’s already the last category of BIBPC?

Team Fox is leading right now, with 499 points, but we have to keep the good work up if we want to win this thing. And I’m sure we can. GO TEAM FOX!

The theme this time is

Animal Close-Ups

Well, we haven’t got many animals around (not ones worth photographing anyway), so I picked a picture of a bird I had taken a while back.

STORY BEHIND THE SHOT

On my vacation back in December, I spotted this little bird perched on a piece of wire. I took a few pictures of it, and I believe it counts as a close-up since I zoomed as much as I could.

I also made a poster for BIBPC the Fifth to make up for the points I’m going to lose for the quality 😛

I guess that’ll do.

Until next time!
